  • The timeline shown below represents the current earliest estimates on the arrival of Artificial Super-Intelligence systems. We currently stand at a branch point for humanity where we must choose which path we will continue down.

  • If an ASI’s goals diverge from human values—a phenomenon known as “misalignment”—there is a real risk that human priorities could be overshadowed or even displaced. An ASI with unintended, adversarial objectives could erode our autonomy and steer the world in directions we did not foresee.

  • At Project ARCA, we believe it is essential to understand these dynamics, preserve critical knowledge, and encourage responsible development practices so that ASIs remain aligned with the long-term well-being of humanity.

China accelerates their construction of data centers as they race to keep pace with U.S. artificial intelligence. Current AI systems are becoming as good at coding as their human counterparts. Automated coding is approaching.

Research in all fields is accelerating, Artificial Intelligence systems maintain their exponential growth predications. The leading AI companies begin to automating major portions of their research and development. AI systems are beginning to make world changing scientific discoveries.

The Singularity

Artificial Intelligence systems have now become better at coding and research than their best human counterparts. These systems are tasked with building the next iteration of Artificial Intelligence systems. This is known as recursive-self-improvement and marks the final opportunity for humanity to change course or implement safeguards that are truly effective.

If robust and unbreakable safety measures are not implemented before the arrival of a super-intelligent AI system, humanities position as the dominant apex intelligence on this planet will fall. By it's very nature, we will be unable to predict, manipulate, or control a super-intelligence. Leaving the fate of humankind in the hands of machines that lack the emotional foundations of biological intelligence.
